Description
These additions transform the T500 into an Alembic Pot Still. Instead of stripping flavours to give clean spirit like the T500, this pot still retains and enhances flavours. This can be used when distilling washes that contain flavours that you wish to collect.
The Pot Still Alembic Condenser is best used with the T500 Boiler and the Pot Still Alembic Dome Top. You can use this with the T500 Boiler without the Pot Still Alembic Dome Top, to do this it fits on to the lid of the T500 Boiler. This condenser is what differentiates this still from the T500. It is what retains the flavour rather than stripping it out by refluxing. This comes with a thermometer, tubing and tap adaptor set.
The Pot Still Alembic Dome Top is copper and fits on to your T500 Boiler. This can be used in place of the T500 Boiler’s stainless steel lid. The large copper surafce area of this dome top acts as a catalyst with the vapour in the still and helps enhance and concentrate the flavours and aromas as well as remove unwanted sulphur compounds. This produces a smoother, richer, sweeter tasting spirit.

I finally had a chance to use this the other day and really enjoyed it. I’ve been using the Turbo 500 condenser for a couple of years for neutral spirits. I’ve had to rely on artificial essences to provide different flavours.
The pot still was able to allow my to produce a product at a lower proof level to allow more flavours from the mash to come through the distillate. This opens up so many more options now. Especially whisky, brandy and liqueurs. The column still would strip too much of the flavour away from the distillate. I surprise how much more I could taste the between the cuts from the column and the pot still condensers.
The only thing Still Sprits did poorly was explaining the water flow in the directions. I’m still figuring that part out. At some points I had it full blast and other times almost a trickle, and I honestly don’t know if it mattered that much. Just needed enough to cool it.
The pot still is everything Still Spirits said it would do. I was very happy.
